What is the difference between UX and UI design?
UX design is how the product works: structure, flows, content and whether people can complete their task. UI design is how it looks and responds: layout, typography, colour and components. We do both together, because a beautiful interface on a broken flow still loses customers.
Which design service should we start with?
If you have a live product with problems, start with a UX audit: it shows what to fix first. If you are building something new, start with product discovery and design. If compliance is the trigger, start with an accessibility audit. A 30-minute call is usually enough to choose.
Do you work with our existing brand guidelines and design system?
Yes. Many clients bring brand guidelines or an HQ design system. We work inside those rules, extend them where the digital product needs more components, and document every addition so your brand team and other vendors can reuse it.
How do you make sure designs work for real users?
We test with people who match your customers before development starts: moderated usability tests on prototypes, plus analytics and support data from the live product. Decisions are documented with the evidence behind them, which also makes stakeholder approvals faster.
Can you design for accessibility and the European Accessibility Act?
Yes. We design to WCAG 2.2 AA from the start and audit existing products against it. The European Accessibility Act has applied since June 2025 to services such as banking, e-commerce and telecom, so accessibility is now a compliance requirement for many of our clients, not an optional extra.
Do you also build what you design?
Yes. Grapefruit has design and engineering in one team, so the designers who ran the research stay involved during development. If you have your own developers, we hand over a documented design system, specs and prototypes and review the implementation.
